Obtain a Bear-Resistant Trash Can and Receive a $100 Rebate!
With their extraordinary sense of smell, anything with an odor can lead bears right to your doorstep. Bringing bears into residential areas is a risk to you, your property, our community and our bears. The most effective way to protect both people and bears is to prevent bears from accessing human food attractants in the first place.
Trash is by far the leading attractant for bears and cause of human-bear conflict. As an incentive for county residents to establish service or upgrade existing service, the LPC Bear Working Group is offering a $100 rebate as an incentive for county residents to obtain a residential bear-resistant trash can for your home, business or short term rental.
Rebate applies ONLY to residents of La Plata County and expires six months from receipt of this form. To receive a rebate, complete the form below and attach a photo of your receipt or proof of purchase from a local waste hauler.
